• Question: Why did green spill the ball and give U.S.A the point? Does the ball have much to do with it? and what does science have to do with it ?

      He spilt the ball because he made a mistake and misjudged the path of the ball. I think this shot was too gentle for him to blame the ball.

      The balls are pretty much perfectly spherical, so the air can’t circulate around them in the way it can with a dimpled golf ball. As a result they can veer in the air if they are moving fast.

      I don’t know why he did that but I know that science is very good at explaining the motions of balls and other objects in sport and there is a whole field of science that is dedicated to such study. Check of “Sports Science” courses at various universities, including Sheffield Hallam University
