Not all the time, although this year has been unusually busy in that respect. In my career I’ve been to most of Europe, the USA and Japan. I’m off to China next month. Its sounds like fun, and sometimes is, but its also hard work most of the time.
Its great to meet scientists from other countries and to share the experience and thrill of working in science. Science is universal the world over and, subject to learning a language, as a scientist you could work anywhere in the world.

I occasionally go to other places with my job. Sometimes I go to conferences, although they are mostly in this country. I also sometimes need to go to other places to use equipment that we don’t have here, but again it’s usually to places in this country.
