I think it’s best to try and decentralise energy as much as possible as a lot of energy is wasted transferring it around the country. If everyone had solar energy in their house then the energy wouldn’t need to be transferred far at all, but solar panels can be expensive.
Great Q, but what do you mean by best? Do you mean cheapest? The most reliable? The least damaging to the environment?
Oil and Coal are cheap, reliable and readily available but a re damaging to the environment via the CO2 emissions.
Nuclear is quiet risky if there is an accident and is quite expensive as we have to build sophisticated and safe power plants and there are not enough of them to supply all our needs.
Renewables (wind, solar etc) are great but again there is not enough of them right now and they can be expensive as we have to build all the new turbines and solar panels etc.
In the medium term we need a good mix of all of them and slowly move to less environmentally damaging technologies.
