Heavier elements can be formed from lighter ones by a process called fusion. The nuclei combine to form a larger nucleus, and in the case of hydrogen nuclei combining to form helium this results in energy being released, but it requires energy first to be put in to push the hydrogen nuclei together because they have the same charge. This happens naurally in stars, but it’s also possible to do it on earth under the right conditions.
this reaction is happening in our sun and all stars called Fusion reaction. Here in presence of high energy two nucleus of each hydrogen (i.e. proton within nucleus) fuses together and gives u helium which is having now 2 protons in nucleus plus loads of energy!
