      I carry out new research into materials (ceramics, hard materials precious metals)
      I carry out investigative work in to materials and their failure for industry
      I supervise PhD students who are learning to be good scientists
      I promote the transfer of knowlegde from university research out in to the “real world”.
      I have fun doing it and get paid for it too!
