  I’m pretty sure that’s a myth, I think ducks’ quacks do echo. I don’t know where the saying comes from.

  It does, there is a simple way to test this of course, but this is a very old urban myth.

Joseph’s right, it’s a myth. A duck’s quack does echo. Prof Trevor Cox took part in the first ever I’m a Scientist, and he did an experiment that proves that they do, and he got asked about it a lot.
